November 2024……
The month of November is always a transitioning month for LKCC. We were able to stay open and enjoy a few days of golf this month. The weather has been very mild and dry so far, which makes spring just a little closer in my book.
The maintenance staff has been working feverously all month to clean up the course, edge the traps, cut back the brush/trees infringing on the fairways and prepare the grass for winter. Mike and I have been prepping the 3rd green for its new look in 2025. We have also been able to pour an aggregate pad for our expensive sand and a cart washing pad for our awesome cart crew. There is so much to do and only so much time. We have had a great fall so far.
I will be traveling to Lewiston this weekend to watch the FA football team compete for the class C State championship. They have had a wonderful season, and I hope that they can come out with a victory. No matter what the outcome is, it will be an experience that they will never forget. Go Raiders!
Thanksgiving will be here in a couple of weeks. It is always fun to cook up a bunch of food and see how much of it we can eat. It is easy to focus on the turkey etc. but the real focus should be on family and friends. My son and his girlfriend just hosted their annual “Friendsgiving” last weekend. I think that this is a really great idea. They all gather, cook, eat and enjoy each other’s company. There may have been a poker game added this year to top the festivities off.
I have so much to be thankful for. A wonderful family, a yellow lab, some nice brown cows, a bunch of chickens that lay eggs and a barn full of pigs. What else could a guy ask for?
This year has been very special for our family. My brother’s 3 children have all had their first child in the last few months. Two of the babies were born on the same day. We will be going to meet the new additions this weekend if all works out as planned. There are many things to be thankful for this year.
The holiday season is upon us and with that comes eating, drinking, shopping and usually some stress. Please remember that no matter what gift you give someone, they will forever remember your kindness, caring and love for them over any gift.
I have written in the past about a “random act of kindness.” This is a great time of year to look for the opportunity to make someone’s day better. A compliment, a big hug, a cup of coffee, holding a door for someone or just a sincere “Have a great day!” It’s the little things in life that can make a big difference to someone that needs a little “pick me up.” As Willy Wonka says to Charlie as he sets the Everlasting Gob Stopper on his desk; “So shines a good deed in a weary world.” Be the reason that someone has a better day.
